Procedural Breath
Procedural Breath is a 2026 audio-reactive, hand-controlled piece built in TouchDesigner with custom GLSL shaders and MediaPipe hand tracking. Music is analyzed in real time into six values (kick, snare, rhythm, low, mid, high) that drive a fractal's motion, while the camera auto-rotates until a hand appears in frame and takes over. Closing your fist increases the shader's density, and opening it returns things to normal.
Here are the full TouchDesigner project file, the MediaPipe hand tracking package, and 5 free sample music tracks to get you started right away. Below is a full breakdown of every parameter, what it controls, and how to adjust it to fit your own audio and visual style.
🎵Audio Reactivity (Music_value base)
Your music or audio file is analyzed in real time and broken down into six core values: kick, snare, rhythm, low, mid, high.
✋ Hand Tracking (Hand_to_camera base)
Hand position and gesture control the camera and fractal shader directly. Camera rotates automatically on its own — hand tracking only kicks in and overrides that motion when a hand is detected in frame. Closing your fist increases shader density; opening your hand returns it to normal.
